beauty buzz: backstage rodarte fall 2012

Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy came to New York in spring 2005 with only a few dresses and coats in tow. No more than a week after arriving, they had shown their collection Rodate, after their mother's maiden name, to almost every major fashion editor and upscale retail buyer. The rest is history. Since, they've collaborated with Gap, Target and MAC Cosmetics, just to name a few. This years collection was inspired by Victorian Australia and the rugged outback, mixing aboriginal prints with fabrics from leather to chiffon.
Makeup artist, James Kaliardos for NARS, gave models the Aussie treatment by applying Laguna Bronzer mixed with a pink blush called Gaiety, create a dusty look from a day in the sun. Face framing bobs were created using a 3-branch curling iron and then topped with exquisite hair accessories, all by Rodarte. Pale, matte lips (Bolero Velvet Matte Lip) and nails (Deborah Lippmann: No More Drama + Matte coat) were added the finishing touch.
