I'm pleased to announce that I have just started a new job! It feels great to be back in the game after a long traveling hiatus. With day number three underway, I'm still learning the ropes and there is a lot to figure out. It's more than the role itself that takes getting used to. Travel time, parking, lunch breaks, navigation, massive crowds of people, it's a huge change of pace from my lifestyle in Hawaii. My biggest first day concern however, was what to wear.
I am fortunate to have been placed in an office of all female employees, very stylish  ladies at that! For the start of a new job, I find  its best to keep clothes simple, comfortable and slightly on the conservative side. Less is more. Of course every office has its own dress code but the best way to figure out what you can get away with? Watch your coworkers. I'm learning its pretty relaxed around here and everyone has their own sense of style. What's your philosophy on first day workwear?
{As a side note, everyone has been very friendly and welcoming! Not typical of an office full of fashionistas. It certainly takes the edge off of first day jitters.}

Sara, CONGRATS on your first week. Alex told me you started and i'm so excited for you. How fun in you're in a office of fashionistas. I definitely agree that less is more with office attire.

Congratulations! What's this new job? I'm with you on the first day outfit - more conservative is definitely the way to go. Then, you can just follow the lead of coworkers. You'll have to show us some of your work wear now.

Congrats on your new job!

I've always worked in offices with pretty lax dress codes too, but I usually dress up a bit on my first day, then tone it down as I go on.

Coooongrats! I hope it is great to you, friend and I agree...I usually stay on the little conservative side when I first start a job and then I sloooowly test the waters getting a little more urban, a touch more boho and me as the days progress.
